Roundabouts
Roundabouts come in all different shapes or sizes but there are some basic principles to follow unless there is anything else eg road signs or road markings that tell you different.
KEY POINTS
1. Think and plan ahead, look at the direction sign for information - how many exits, which is main road etc
2. Mirror - Signal - Manoeuvre - Position - Speed - Look
Normally where you have 3 exits and two lanes approaching
Left (1st exit) - signal left and use left hand lane
Straight ahead (2nd exit) - no signal on approach, left hand lane, keep on left of roundabout, signal as you pass previous exit
Right (3rd exit) - signal right, use right hand lane, keep to inner edge of roundabout, when you pass exit before yours check left door mirror, signal left, move left.
This is what the Highway Code has to say about roundabouts
